Whispir for Impact
Background
Project type: Webpage redesign
Role: Visual Designer, Web Designer
Industry: Technology, Communications
Duration: June 2022 - 4 weeks
Process
Problem Space
Engagement metrics showed a high bounce rate — users would navigate away from long pages without scrolling down. The Whispir website in general is a bit vague about what Whispir’s platform actually does.
The impact page didn’t display specific stories of the organizations Whispir works with. Imagery was generic and didn’t lend much insight into the company or organizations.
User Research
The design process began with a thorough understanding of the target audience for the Whispir for Impact page. The primary audience consisted of organizations that wanted to improve their communication and engagement and operated in the nonprofit or charity space. Other audience members could include potential clients in other industries that are interested in Whispir’s platform, or potential job seekers who want to get a sense of what Whispir does and who they are as a company.
Key Design Decisions
Simple navigation to make it easy for users to scan information
Compelling visuals and hero images. Black and white to reduce visual clutter, full color on the selected stories on hover and scroll.
Compact design to minimize scrolling. Engagement data and heat maps showed people do not scroll very far down the page before exiting or clicking another page.
Interactive elements: Makes the page more engaging for users.
